Benchmarking
As part of our commitment to continuous monitoring and greater
transparency of SEPA charging mechanisms, we have been working with
the Environment Agency, Scottish Government and Defra to produce a
charges
benchmarking report 
(411k).
The report compares environmental protection charges in
Scotland, England and Wales for 2005/2006. It focuses on how
charging schemes are set, how they have been developed and looks at
local factors that have impacted on these schemes. It then gives a
detailed comparison of agency charges for the eleven most important
environmental protection charging schemes.
Where there are differences, we explain why and quantify the
differences for similar activities, with the use of worked
examples.
