Application for variation of
authorisation
SEPA has received an application from Magnox Electric Limited
requesting variation of two existing authorisations held by
Chapelcross. The variations are required in order to reflect the
change of operator at the low level waste repository near Drigg in
Cumbria and storage of authorisation records. As required by
section 17 of the Radioactive Substances Act 1993 (as amended),
SEPA is consulting the Food Standards Agency and the Health and
Safety Executive. A copy of the application is also being sent to
the Scottish Government to allow Scottish Ministers to decide if
they wish to exercise the powers provided by sections 23 and 24 of
the Act. SEPA is also consulting with LLW Repository Limited.
