Green Network
SEPA's Green Network is there to help drive all the elements of
SEPA's internal environmental policy and to secure the support of
colleagues.
This includes:
- encouraging colleagues to turn off lights and machinery at
night and weekends
- monitoring energy consumption (gas, electricity, business
miles, pool vehicle fuel use)
- carrying out limited energy audits and looking at ways of
reducing energy consumption, eg turning heating down when
appropriate
- carrying out waste minimisation audits and ensuring that
recycling is carried out by arranging collections, eg paper, glass,
batteries, composting etc
- helping to ensure that SEPA is compliant with environmental
legislation
- monitoring and promoting the use of video-conferencing
facilities (where available) as an alternative to travel
- encouraging all colleagues to follow guidance.
Internal Environmental Steering Group
Overall responsibility for improving SEPA's environmental
performance lies with the Chief Executive, who chairs the
Environmental Steering Group. The group's role is to:
- determine the most appropriate actions that will deliver the
policy objectives and targets
- ensure appropriate line management action
- ensure that data and information are available for the annual
reporting cycle
- monitor and report on delivery of the policy
- contribute to development of the policy and to the
establishment of new and improving targets
- support feasibility studies and exploratory work to underpin
proposed policy developments eg best practice, benchmarking.
