Carmel Burn pollution incident - update 1
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) was made aware
of an oil pollution incident involving the Carmel Burn at
Crosshouse, near Kilmarnock at approximately 4.30pm on Friday 27
August.
Oil booms put in place by SEPA are holding the oil and a
specialist contractor is now removing it.
An iridescent film can be seen on the Carmel Water and the River
Irvine at the edge of Irvine town, however the oil is dispersing
and the situation is improving.
