Carmel Burn pollution incident - statement
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency
(SEPA) was made aware of an oil pollution incident involving the
Carmel Burn at Crosshouse, near Kilmarnock at approximately 4.30pm
on Friday 27 August.
SEPA officers worked through the evening to
identify the source of the pollution and continued to work into the
night to install oil booms to contain the oil. Officers are on site
again this morning to continue their investigation. In the interim,
local residents are advised to keep animals away from the
watercourse.
