Flooding information event comes to town
EXT01 – B12
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is taking
flooding information on the road again, and heading to Bridge of
Earn and Coupar Angus.
As part of its annual flood awareness campaign Scotland's
environment watchdog, Perth and Kinross Council and the Scottish
Flood Forum will be holding a flood information event where members
of the public can come along and get advice and guidance on
flooding issues from local experts.
Where and when:
- Coupar Angus, Town Hall, Wednesday 17 February, 4:30pm –
7pm
- Bridge of Earn Institute, Thursday 18 Feb, 4:30pm – 7pm
Visitors to these events can find out more about flooding issues
in the area, how to use the Floodline 0845 988 1188 service, and
get useful information and advice on flood preparation. The first
10 visitors to the event will also receive a free flood emergency
kit, handy in any flood situation.
Stewart Prodger from SEPA's flooding team said: "As many
residents and businesses in the area will already know, flooding is
a real threat. It is vital that everyone takes action to prepare
and protect themselves from the risk. Even simple measures like
making a flood plan and kit for you, your family or your business
can make all the difference, and we're here to help.
Paul Hendy, from the Scottish Flood Forum added: "Communities
are great at working together, and this can really help when it
comes to thinking about how to protect and recover from flooding
should it occur. This event is one of several SEPA and the
Scottish Flood Forum are holding across Scotland and I would urge
people to come down and see what support is on offer."
