Thursday 22 April is Earth Day!
Earth Day began in 1970 and was the brainchild of US
Senator Gaylord Nelson, who wanted to bring growing ecological
concerns to a wider audience – a "grassroots demonstration on
behalf of the environment".
WWF Scotland reports that 20 million people participated in the
first event, and the figure has grown every Earth Day since, as the
environmental message has spread.
For more information, visit the Earth Day website or check
out the
WWF Scotland website where you’ll be able to find ideas
on how to celebrate Earth Day.
