Volcanic ash cloud – the latest news from SEPA – update
3
SEPA continues to monitor the situation regarding the ash plume
from the Icelandic volcano. For details of our monitoring programme
see www.sepa.org.uk/about_us/news/2010/volcanic_ash_cloud_-_update_2.aspx.
This morning’s readings from Scotland’s air
quality and radioactivity monitoring networks continue to be
normal, with no areas of concern.
SEPA and the Met Office have been collecting
rainfall samples over the weekend and these will be returned to
SEPA laboratories tomorrow (Monday 19 April) for analysis.
Next week, further work will be undertaken in
partnership with a range of other organisations to monitor soil and
vegetation, and to do further more detailed analysis of samples of
volcanic ash collected in dust filters at sampling sites across the
country.
Further updates will be issued as the
situation develops.
