Flood Risk Science Programme (FRSP)

SEPA has significant new duties arising from the implementation of the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act and the EU Floods Directive. However, across the whole of the UK there is well documented shortage of experienced hydrologists.

In recognition of the increased focus on flooding and the requirement for skills in flood risk management, natural flood management and flood mapping, SEPA has established a Flood Risk Science Programme.

SEPA is working in partnership with Stirling and Dundee University to train the flood risk scientists of the future.  Ten trainees were appointed in 2009 and it is anticipated that a further ten will be appointed in 2010 and 2011.  The trainees will work part-time for SEPA and will be funded by SEPA to study part-time (over two years) for a Masters (MSc) at the University of Dundee or Stirling.

SEPA is not currently recruiting for the Flood Risk Science Programme but please keep an eye on this page for further updates.
