S3.03 : Guidance for the Glass Manufacturing Sector (A1 Processes)

This document, Guidance for the Glass Manufacturing Sector (A1 processes), is the UK Guidance for delivering the PPC Regulations in this sector.

The aims of this guidance include to:

provide a clear structure and methodology to assist operators to make a satisfactory permit application
increase the transparency and consistency of the permitting process by having a structure in which the operators response to each issue, and any departures from the standards, can be seen clearly;
provide a summary of the Best Available Techniques (BAT) for pollution control and UK experience which are relevant in the UK context expressed, where possible, as clear indicative standards and which need to be addressed by applicants.

This guidance is based on the BAT Reference document (BREF) produced by the European Commission.
