Climate change: the global threat

    The reality of the global threat posed by climate change is being increasingly recognised. What are the latest findings? What are the global implications and what can done? Professor Hulme, a leading voice on UK and global climate change, puts UK issues into the global context.

Three workshops will examine different aspects of sustainable development in Scotland, seeking delegates’ views on finding the ‘win-wins’. How can we build a sustainable future for the environment, economy and Scotland’s people?

Workshop one: the environment and the economy: Economic opportunities in a sustainable Scotland, the low carbon economy, the importance of productivity and place

Living beyond our means?

  • Professor Jan Bebbington, Vice Chair Scotland, the Sustainable Development Commission

    Climate change, biodiversity loss, unsustainable use of resources. What difference can a small country like Scotland make to global scale problems? As chair of the Sustainable Development Commission in Scotland Professor Bebbington is well placed to summarise the issues and describe what can and is being done.
