Consultation on SEPA Climate Change Plan 2008 - 2012
The Environmental Report prepared as part of the Strategic Environmental Assessment of the SEPA’s Climate Change Plan is also available for consultation. This sets out the potential environmental effects of implementing the Climate Change Plan and is required under the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005. The closing date for comments on both the Climate Change Plan and the Environmental Report is 4th March 2008.

SEPA has received an application from Magnox Electric Limited requesting variation of an existing authorisation granted under the Radioactive Substances Act 1993, as amended. The variation is requested to reflect the change of the operator at the low level waste repository near Drigg in Cumbria. As required by section 17 of the act, SEPA is consulting the Food Standards Agency and the Health and Safety Executive. A copy of the application is also being sent to the Scottish Government to allow Scottish Ministers to decide if they wish to exercise the powers provided by sections 23 and 24 of the act. SEPA is also consulting with LLW Repository Limited.

| Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Scoping Reports
In addition to the Significant water management issues reports above, we are also publishing a Strategic Environmental Assessment Scoping Report for each river basin district.
SEPA is required to produce these reports under the European Directive on the Assessment of Certain Plans and Programmes on the Environment (commonly known as the SEA Directive (42/2001/EC)). The reports are available here and have been circulated to all river basin planning advisory group members and statutory consultation bodies.
