| The Radioactive Substances Act 1993 (as amended) : Application for the transfer of authorisations to dispose of radioactive waste from Torness & Hunterston "B" Power Stations (Closed 7th April 2005)
Notice is hereby given that joint applications, under section 16A of the above Act, have been made by British Energy Generation (UK) Limited and British Energy Generation Limited to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency for the transfer of authorisations held under section 13 of the above Act by British Energy Generation (UK) Limited, to British Energy Generation Limited. The authorisations subject to the applications relate to the disposal of radioactive waste from Torness Power Station, Dunbar, East Lothian, EH42 1QS and Hunterston 'B' Power Station, West Kilbride, Ayrshire, KA23 9QJ. The applications relates to the transfer of authorisations between operators and, if granted, no change will be made to the conditions and limitations of the authorisations. In accordance with the requirements of Section 16A(5) of the above Act, SEPA is consulting with relevant public and local authorities including: Food Standards Agency; Health and Safety Executive; Committee on the Medical aspects of Radiation in the Environment (COMARE); National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB); Environment Agency (EA); Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH); Scottish Water; Cumbria County Council; Copeland Borough Council; Hampshire County Council, New Forest District Council For Hunterston ‘B’, also: North Ayrshire Council; Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board For Torness Power Station, also: The City of Edinburgh Council, East Lothian Council, Scottish Borders Council, Lothian NHS Board, NHS Borders In addition the applications and existing certificates may be viewed on the SEPA website or inspected by any interested party between 09:00 and 17:00 hours at the following SEPA offices: SEPA Edinburgh Office SEPA East Kilbride Office (a) whether the proposed transferee has or will have operational control over the radioactive disposals to which the transferred authorisations will relate; (b) whether the proposed transferee is able and willing to ensure compliance with the limitations and conditions of the authorisations that he will hold if the application is granted; and (c) whether any other grounds exist on which it would be reasonable to refuse to grant the transfer applications.
