Notice is hereby given that applications, under section 17(2) of the above Act, have been made by British Energy Generation Limited to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency for the variation of authorisations held under section 13 of the above Act by British Energy Generation Limited. The authorisations subject to the applications relate to the disposal of combustible radioactive wastes from Torness Power Station, Dunbar, East Lothian, EH42 1QS and Hunterston 'B' Power Station, West Kilbride, Ayrshire, KA23 9QJ.

In accordance with the requirements of Section 17(2A) of the above Act, SEPA is consulting with statutory consultees, the Food Standards Agency and the Health and Safety Executive. In addition SEPA is consulting with the Environment Agency (EA) and the operator of the incinerator at Charleston Road, Hardley, Hythe, Southampton, Hampshire SO45 3ZA.

The applications and existing certificates may be viewed on the SEPA website or inspected by any interested party between 09:00 and 17:00 hours at the following SEPA offices:

Comments are invited on the understanding that they may be made public by SEPA. Comments will only be treated as “not for publication” if a specifics request to hat effect is made to SEPA.
