Planning for floods

The consultation, Planning for floods: Planning for the future, formed part of the early stages of work to implement the Flood Risk Management Act.  It represented an important first step towards establishing a framework for partnership working and flood risk management.  To view a copy of the consultation please click here  (2.54Mb).

To support the consultation an event took place to provide an opportunity for practitioners, policy makers, local authorities and interested stakeholders to actively contribute to developing the future of flood risk management in Scotland.  In addition to providing a forum for discussion on how to deliver a partnership approach to implementation, stakeholders were given the opportunity to clarify any issues or queries they had through question and answer sessions with a panel of representatives from responsible authorities, including Scottish Government, Scottish Water, SEPA and local authorities.  To view presentations from the event please click here  (69kb).

Responses to the consultation, which closed on Friday 15 October, were used to inform the development of geographical boundaries for local flood risk management plans and partnership structures that support their production.  To view a summary of responses please click here    (1.74Mb).
