Preparing for floods - introduction

Floods can happen very quickly, and without much warning. It is therefore important that if a flood warning or severe flood warning is issued by SEPA for your area, that you and your family take action immediately.

These are the four levels of warning that SEPA issues:

Flood Watch: Flooding is possible. Beware. Watch out! Flood Warning: Flooding of homes, businesses and main roads expected. Act now! Severe Flood Warning: Severe flooding is expected. Danger to life and property. Act now! All Clear: Flood water levels going down. Check it is safe to return.
