SEPA's green targets 2007/2008

CO2

1 Reduce CO2 emissions by 20% of 1998-1999 total by 2010
Energy

2 During 2007-2008, SEPA will reduce our use of electricity in buildings by 2% per FTE below 2006-2007 levels

During 2007-2008, SEPA will reduce our use of gas in buildings by 2% per FTE below 2006-2007 levels

4 All new built SEPA buildings will achieve an ‘excellent’ rating using the Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Methodology.
Waste

SEPA will target and reduce both solid and liquid waste by actively using the hierarchy of prevention, reduction, re-use, recycling before disposal at all sites and for all activities

SEPA will reduce paper consumption per FTE by 5% of 2006-2007 levels by March 2008

7 During 2007-2008 SEPA will accurately monitor water consumption at our 4 sites with laboratories and target reductions.
Transport

During 2007-2008 SEPA will reduce combined CO2 emissions per FTE from all transport modes by 2% below 2006-2007 levels

A 50% reduction in UK mainland flights for 2007/2008, compared to figures for 2006/2007

Procurement

SEPA will seek to influence all contracts with environmental criteria, where applicable, and record and report environmental gains

Biodiversity

Based on the 2006-2007 biodiversity audit results of SEPA premises, each office with grounds will implement at least one identified opportunity for habitat enhancement during 2007-2008.
