Groundwater and Cemetery Developments

Introduction

Groundwater and Cemetery Developments Pic The burial of corpses and their subsequent degradation may pose a risk of pollution of groundwater. Whilst SEPA recognises the sensitivity associated with burial sites, SEPA also has a duty to ensure the protection of groundwater and is the enforcing authority for The Water Environment (Controlled Activities) (Scotland) Regulations 2005.
