Authorisation Granted for Egger (Barony) Ltd

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has granted an authorisation for Egger (Barony) Ltd to operate a chipboard manufacturing process at its Barony Road premises at Auchinleck. This authorisation will be subject to conditions.
The authorisation has been granted following lengthy consideration by SEPAs West Region Licensing Team, which included representations by concerned local residents.
The full authorisation is now available for inspection on the public register at the Agencys Ayr Office at 2 Alloway Place.

The detailed conditions are contained in six schedules referring to process description, standards, monitoring, maintenance, records, reports and commissioning. In brief, they include:
Emission limits lower than the Secretary of States guidance notes
Environmental monitoring at four locations
Continual monitoring of emissions from the fabric bag filters
The use of an independent accredited laboratory to sample the emissions from the main stack eight time during the first year (this frequency to be reduced only if the results are satisfactory)
The implementation of a testing programme during the commissioning of the plant
