SEPA's Grant-in Aid
Issued on 3 December 1997 - Ref 44/97
SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency) today welcomed the grant-in-aid announcement by The Scottish Office of £19.9m for the financial year 1998/99. This represents an increase of £1.6m over the baseline figure and will enable SEPA to make steady progress towards achieving the objectives laid out in its corporate plan.
In a joint statement issued today the Chairman, Professor William Turmeau and the Chief Executive, Mr Alasdair Paton said: SEPA would like to thank Scottish Office for making this additional provision for the coming year. It follows their earlier support in the current year and confirms the Governments commitment to the environment. The settlement will enable the Agency to move forward with confidence now that we have a clearer understanding of our inheritance and are looking forward to a new environmental strategy for Scotland.
