SEPA Launches Waste Minimisation Strategy
Issued on 11 November 1998 - Ref 41/98

SEPA’s National Waste Minimisation Strategy, a major SEPA project under the National Waste Strategy umbrella was launched today at the ETBPP/SEPA/Scottish Office Waste Minimisation Seminar being held at the Inchyra Grange Hotel, Grangemouth.

Waste minimisation is an important part of SEPA’s National Waste Strategy due to be launched later next year. The aim of the Waste Minimisation Strategy is to build on the various and valuable waste minimisation projects currently ongoing in Scotland and to provide a focal point for communication. In so doing, SEPA will be able to facilitate the dissemination of best practices and encourage a cohesive development strategy for the future.

Caroline Halliday, SEPA’s Waste Minimisation Project Manager commented:

"The audience today comprised of representatives from Local Authorities, Business Groups and Local Enterprise Companies all working towards a common goal - Waste Minimisation. SEPA’s aim is to facilitate effective dissemination of information and the exchange of ideas between the various groups to help us all obtain this goal."
