SEPA Proposes New Fees and Charges for
Part B Processes
Issued on 4 February 1998 - Ref 8/98

In line with the ‘polluter pays’ principle, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is proposing to revise the scheme of fees and charges for processes prescribed for Local Air Pollution Control (frequently referred to as Part B processes). The proposed new charges will more accurately reflect the actual costs incurred by SEPA in determining applications for Authorisation and their subsequent enforcement.

SEPA is consulting on the proposed scheme of charges before submitting it to the Secretary of State for his approval. Copies of a consultation paper which gives full details of the revised scheme are available from SEPA Public Affairs (tel 01786 457700; email publicrelations@sepa.org.uk). Both documents are in PDF format. Click here to download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat to view PDF files.)

The Secretary of State in determining whether or not to approve SEPA’s revised scheme is required to consider any representations or objections which have been duly made. Persons wishing to make representations, should do so in writing by 11 March 1998 to: Ian McDougall, The Scottish Office Agriculture Environment and Fisheries Department, Environmental Protection Unit Area 1J, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh EH6 6QQ.
