Public Meeting - Greengairs - 29 October 1998
Issued on 29 October 1998 - Ref W981005
SEPA has not been given a copy of the Environmental Report commissioned by both Shanks & McEwan and the Greengairs Environmental Forum in advance of this meeting, and is therefore not in a position to comment on the report in any way.
We also feel it would be unproductive for SEPA to attend a meeting for which we are completely unprepared.
Once we receive, and have had time to look at, the full report and evaluate its recommendations, we will be more than happy to discuss its implications with all interested parties.
"We are disappointed in the lack of co-operation we have received from the Greengairs Environmental Forum," said SEPAs West Region Director, John Beveridge. "SEPA has endeavoured to keep the group up to date with the latest information concerning issues affecting the village. We are discouraged that this goodwill on our part has not been reciprocated."

Notes for Editors
The study conducted by Leeds Environmental Organisation Limited was commissioned by Shanks and McEwan in agreement with the villagers and their representative body, the Greengairs Environmental Forum. Leeds was selected by the Forum to conduct the study following concerns about the environmental impact of disposal of soil containing PCBs at the Greengairs site
