The East Regional Board of the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) will hold its next quarterly meeting at the premises of Avecia Ltd, Earls Road, Grangemouth, on Friday 12 September. The meeting, which is open to the public, unless otherwise resolved by the Board at the meeting, begins at 1.30 pm.
The remit of East Regional Board includes advising SEPA on:
- The promotion of the highest quality environmental standards within SEPA’s local operations, in accordance with overall SEPA policy
- Considering and offering advice to officials on the handling of consent or authorisation applications which have major implications for the local environment
Regional board members also play an important role in promoting the work of SEPA. Members represent a wide range of interests including pollution control and conservation, local government, industry and business, education and consumer affairs. The chair is Bill Howatson, a councillor on Aberdeenshire Council and a member of SEPA’s main board.
Agenda items include:
- Quarterly performance and progress report
- Regional environmental quality planning and local initiatives group report
- A report from SEPA’s health and safety committee
Prior to the meeting, SEPA’s East Regional Board members will be given a presentation on and a tour of Avecia Ltd’s facilities. Avecia is a leading global fine and specialty chemicals company focused on delivering innovative technology and service excellence to customers across a range of high technology industries.
