Annex 6 - Assumptions Underlying Best Practicable Environmental Option Targets

1. HHW composition assumed as follows:-

2. 0.5% per annum growth in MSW is average – i.e. constant across WSA until 2020

3. Anaerobic digestion/composting collections achieve 50, 60, and 70% capture and recovery of total available BMW by 2010, 2013 and 2020 respectively

4. Recycling collections achieve 40, 50 and 60% capture and delivery for reprocessing of total available glass, ferrous metals, non-ferrous metal cans and dense plastics from the household waste stream by 2010, 2013 and 2020 respectively

5. Recycling collections achieve additional 5% capture and delivery for reprocessing of total available waste from commercial premises by 2010 and 2013 respectively

6. Total BMW = 60% Total MSW
