The Waste Data Strategy

Licensed/Permitted Waste Management Site Returns

SEPA gathers data every three months from all licensed waste management facilities in Scotland . The information collected includes the tonnages of all wastes entering, being processed at, and leaving the facilities. The waste is classified using the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) coding system.

The information provided is used to check the compliance of facilities with their licence conditions, to contribute towards national and international reporting obligations and to inform National Waste Strategy.

Data collected are entered into SEPA’s Waste Data Strategy database and published, in summary form, in the annual Waste Data Digest. A summary report for each return is placed on SEPA’s public register.

The surveys have received an excellent response since they began in April 2001.

Completed forms can either be posted to your local Waste Data Officer in Dingwall, Glasgow or Stirling , or emailed to waste.data@sepa.org.uk.
