SEPA policy and guidance
We provide planning advice on noise and odour
only where we will also regulate an activity under a regulatory
regime. Our guidance on How to respond to respond to planning
consultations in relation to SEPA regulated sites and
processes provides details of the information which must be
submitted to us at the planning stage in relation to any
permissions or licences required under our regulatory
regimes. This is the minimum amount of information necessary
for us to establish the acceptability of any proposal in
principle.
Where we do not regulate the activity then
advice should be sought from Environmental Health in the Local
Council prior to submission of any planning applications to ensure
all the required information is included in the planning
application.
Regulatory and best practice advice
Regulatory and best practice advice relating
to noise and odour include pollution prevention advice and our
odour guidance, and advice on The Pollution Prevention and Control (Scotland)
Regulations 2000.
