Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) Local Air Pollution Control - Process Guidance Notes

The Process Guidance (PG) notes below are issued by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs under regulation 37 of the Pollution Prevention and Control (England and Wales) 2000 Regulations (as amended) and Regulation 24 of The Pollution Prevention and Control (Scotland) Regulations 2000 (as amended).

They form guidance on what constitute the Best Available Techniques (BAT) for APC installations (also known as Part B installations) for each of the processes regulated.

Process Guidance Notes are currently under review. Finalised versions of those which have been reviewed and have been subject to a formal consultation exercise by Defra and Devolved Administrations, which allowed key stakeholders, plus wider interested organisations, to have an opportunity to comment on the content of the notes before they were formally issued, are available from the Defra website.

A full list of the original Process Guidance Notes, complete with ISBN numbers, is available from DEFRA here.

*Please note that reference should always be made to the most recent guidance note for each process.
