Part
1, "Regulation and Permitting" outlines the
main considerations relating to the Permitting and Regulation
of odour-generating activities. It is aimed primarily
at the information needs of Regulators, but also contains
information which will be of use to Applicants. This Note:
- describes
the information relating to odorous releases that is
required from the Operator for the purpose of making
an application for an IPPC Permit
- describes
the process of determination as it relates to odour
- provides
background information relating to the human response
to odours, and
- outlines
the tools available for the assessment of the environmental
impact of odour.
In
common with most of the IPPC guidance it is joint guidance
with the Environment Agency, SEPA and the Northern Ireland
Environment and Heritage Service (NIEHS)..
