Scottish Development Agency on
Professor of Environmental Management and Planning at Aberdeen University and with thirty-two years' experience of environmental management and impact assessment in Scotland and worldwide. Founder and former director of Centre for Environmental Management and Planning providing consultancy, research and training in Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment and capacity building.
Member of Fife Council and formerly Chairman of the Environmental Health Committee of North East Fife District Council.
Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Spent early working life in power generation and subsequently in fertiliser manufacturing and agricultural merchanting. From 1992 to 1999 worked as safety, health and environment adviser with W L Gore and Associates. As a Labour councillor on Fife Council since 1999 involved in environmental issues including development of the Fife Area Waste Plan. Currently the Council's spokesperson on resources and chairs the Council's superannuation fund and a number of other sub-committees. Member of the Scottish Labour Party.

1980 to 1999 held a number of posts in the National Rivers Authority and subsequently in the Environment Agency. She retired as Regional Water Manager of the Agency's North West Region in 1999 to form her own consultancy company which specialises in sustainable and integrated river basin management. Since 1999 has held the part-time position of Professor of Geography and Environment at the University of Aberdeen. Currently a Board member of Scottish Natural Heritage, the Deer Commission for Scotland and the Cairngorms National Park Authority. Also a member of the Fisheries (Electricity) Committee. Professor Walker has not been politically active in the last five years.
