Radioactive Waste Adviser Approval Board
The environment agencies have set up a Radioactive Waste Adviser Approval Board (the “Approval Board”) which operates in accordance with a Constitution
(65k) agreed by the environment agencies.
The Approval Board has membership from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), the Environment Agency (EA) and the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA). Members from the nuclear and non-nuclear industries will be invited to participate in an advisory capacity. Invitations will be issued through the Nuclear Industry Liaison Group (NILG), the Scottish Non-Nuclear Industry Liaison Group (SNNILG) and the Small Users Liaison Group (SULG).
The purpose of the Approval Board is to:
- oversee the operation of the scheme for the recognition of Radioactive Waste Advisers;
- review and maintain the Environment Agencies’ Statement on Radioactive Waste Advisers;
- approve Assessing Bodies and Corporate Arrangements; and
- award Grandfather Rights to Radioactive Waste Advisers.
Notes of Approval Board meetings will be published on this web page.
