Waste Education
Everyone produces waste; every day, every year the amount of
waste produced in Scotland increases. Last year Scotland’s local
authorities collected nearly 3 million tonnes - the same weight as
350,000 fully grown elephants!
Recycling schemes are being rolled out to help us deal with what we
throw away in a more responsible way, coupled with a National
promotion and awareness campaign – Waste Aware
Scotland
- to help
change public attitudes to waste.
Waste education initiatives are springing up across the country to
help minimise the impact waste has on our environment, and maximise
the value we can realise from it. The Network aims to bring waste education
practitioners together to support the consistent delivery of
promotion, education and training on waste.
SEPA has developed a range of waste education
resources including information
factsheets and short videos outlining key waste journeys.
