Construction and demolition waste

Construction and demolition wastes typically include soils, concrete, bricks, glass, wood, plasterboard, asbestos, metals and plastics.  These materials are classified under Chapter 17 of the European Waste Catalogue List of Wastes.

Data on these wastes are required for reporting under the European Union Waste Statistics Regulations and for SEPA’s annual Waste Data Digest.  The data can also be used to inform the construction industry sector in general.

The data in these reports come from statutory data returns submitted by licensed/permitted waste management sites and from exempt activities registered under paragraphs 9 and 19 of the Waste Management Licensing Regulations.
