Waste Data Digest
SEPA has published an annual Waste Data Digest (the digest) since 2001. It deals with data collected by, or on behalf of, SEPA on controlled waste in Scotland.
The digest covers waste arisings, recovery and disposal, and includes data on municipal wastes, as well as on commercial and industrial wastes.
The digest is divided in two parts:
- Waste Data Digest: Key facts and trends - tables, graphs and text dealing with high-level facts and trends available;
- Waste Data Digest: Datatables - Excel tables presenting detailed data on Local Authority Collected Municipal Waste (LACMW) and commercial and industrial wastes .
The latest WDD12 Key Facts and Trends were published in May 2012 and the Data Tables were published in March of the same year.
Our Data Unit is undertaking a review of our waste data reporting. If you have any comments or suggestions to make about the WDD or any other waste data reporting please send them to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The methodology for calculating the waste recycling/composting figures has been revised to discount weight loss from composted waste that is subsequently sent to landfill. The data reported under the Landfill Allowance Scheme reports for the relevant local authorities has been recalculated based on the new methodology so that year on year comparisons are more accurate. This will result in a minor change to the recycling/composting figures for Scotland and for a small number of local authorities identified in the 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004 reports. These reports will be updated in due course.
