Construction and Demolition Waste Reports

Construction and demolition wastes, such as soil, concrete, and bricks comprise just over half of the controlled waste handled in Scotland.  Further information on these wastes is available on the construction and demolition waste page.

SEPA has produced reports on the types and quantities of construction and demolition wastes managed by licensed/permitted sites and exempt activities in Scotland:

Construction and demolition waste 2005 pdf link (491k)
Construction and demolition waste 2004 pdf link (495k)

It is important to note that these reports show waste managed, not waste arising, as some of the waste may be double-counted if it passes through more than one facility.  SEPA are currently working on a methodology for estimating waste arisings.

Further information on trends in construction and demolition waste is available in the Waste Data Digest.
