Area Advisory Group forums

Anyone with an interest in their local water environment can become a member of an Area Advisory Group (AAG) forum.

River basin planning reaches beyond the National Area Group (NAG) and the Area Advisory Groups (AAGs) and their members.

In the Scotland river basin district each AAG has a forum with a wide and open membership. The forum offers an exciting opportunity for anyone with an interest in the water environment to be actively involved in the river basin planning process in their area, and to attend an AAG meeting as an observer.

Keeping up-to-date

The role of the forum is to assist and comment on the work of the AAG. The individual AAG web pages will keep forum members informed as well as forum events, email updates and correspondence with SEPA’s river basin planning co-ordinators.

Forum events will allow wider information dissemination and encourage consultation in each sub-basin areas at key stages of the river basin planning process.

Forum events from 2006-09 will cover key topics such as:

  • National and area characterisation
  • Plan of Action report
  • Significant Water Management Issues (SWMI) report
  • Measures to address significant issues
  • Programmes of measures
  • Environmental objectives
  • Draft river basin management plan
  • Final river basin management plan

Presentations and proceeding from these events are available from the individual AAG pages.
