Clyde
The Clyde advisory group areaincludes all of the land that
drains into several large rivers, including the rivers Clyde, Ayr,
Irvine, Leven and the Kelvin, the coastline out into the Firth of
Clyde which includes the sea lochs, Cowal peninsula, Islands of
Bute and Arran and groundwater which provides flow for many of the
areas rivers.
The Clyde Area Advisory Group comprises the representatives of
the key stakeholders and responsible authorities for river basin
management planning in the area. They hold regular meetings
and have developed a supplementary plan for the implementation of
the river basin
management plan for the Scotland river basin
district.

The Clyde area management plan
The Clyde area management plan has been developed by the area
advisory group. It has three parts: a summary document, an
action table and catchment summaries. Information can be found
about individual waterbodies via our interactive map application.

The Scotland river basin district plan includes a number of
chapters that explain the different parts of the river basin
planning process. It also sets the wider context for the Clyde area
management plan, including the area’s classification, objectives
and measures, which you might find useful.
Membership
Membership of the Clyde Area Advisory Group is determined by the
range and type of pressures in the Clyde advisory group area and
those that can help deliver improvements. Members include
representatives from:
- Ayrshire Joint Structure Plan;
- Ayrshire Rivers Trust;
- British Waterways;
- Clyde River Foundation (also representing Lomond Rivers
Trust);
- Coal Authority;
- Doon District Salmon Fisheries Board;
- East Ayrshire (represented by Ayrshire Joint Structure
Plan);
- East Dunbartonshire Council;
- Firth of Clyde Forum;
- Forestry Commission Scotland;
- Glasgow and the Clyde Valley Structure Plan Joint

Membership is flexible. It will be possible for additional
members to be co-opted for agreed periods to assist with particular
aspects of river basin planning. Such members can be co-opted onto
the Area Advisory Group for single meetings, to cover specific
agenda items or for a short period to advise on a particular issue.
They will not be full members and therefore will not determine
quorum or vote.
Meetings and minutes
The Clyde Area Advisory Group meets twice a year. The group
provides a mechanism to support the delivery of river basin
planning in the Clyde advisory group area and to co-ordinate river
basin planning with other plans and programmes.
Future meetings
The full Clyde Area Advisory Group meets in June and December
each year.
Details of future meetings, groups that are actively helping to
deliver river basin planning objectives and the task groups set up
for delivery can be found on the advisory group work plan.
Previous meetings
Agenda, minutes, papers and presentations from the four
previous meetings of Clyde Area Advisory Group are available

Clyde advisory group forum
Anyone with an interest in the water environment of the
Clyde can become a member of the Clyde advisory group forum.
