Water classification results 2010
The water classification results for 2010 are now available. These results will help us plan improvements to the environment and provide us with a good understanding of the current condition of the aquatic environment.
A filterable excel spreadsheet with 2010 classification data for water bodies in each river basin area has been produced along with corresponding overall classification maps. Individual spreadsheets and maps are available on the relevant Area Advisory Group web pages.
Information on the components of the Water Framework Directive classification scheme and data for previous years can be found here.
The results demonstrate that some classification results may fluctuate with extra data, environmental conditions or impacts on the water environment, so changes to measures need to be made with caution and appropriate discussion.
The river basin management plans set out the objectives for improvement and protection of the water bodies over three planning cycles. Classification results for 2008 (the baseline for the river basin management plans) are still available on the GIS Interactive map application. Opportunities to update this map based information are currently being investigated.
