Stakeholder groups
SEPA aims to be open and transparent about its activities. We
work with stakeholders on a number of issues, including the
development of the Water Environment Charging Scheme. Our
stakeholders include representatives from industry, environmental
groups, local authorities and other water users.
The regulatory stakeholder group allows open discussion with
stakeholders on the implementation of charging and regulations. The
group is not a decision-making body, but is used to ensure that
policies and guidance are technically correct and appropriate. It
also provides an essential mechanism for circulating
information.
- Regulatory stakeholder group
Provides an external forum to influence SEPA's work on water
charging and regulatory regimes. The group is not a decision-making
body, but is used to ensure that policies and guidance are
technically correct and appropriate.
- Scottish
Government’s national stakeholder forum

Scottish ministers access information on any aspect of the
Controlled Activities Regulations (CAR), via Scottish Government’s
national stakeholder forum.
- Economic advisory stakeholder
group
Most environmental effects are the consequence of economic activity
and, in order to minimise these effects, we need to understand more
about the links between business (and household) activity and the
water environment. The economic advisory stakeholder group was
established to assist in SEPA’s understanding of these links and
merged with the regulatory stakeholder group in 2007.
