Consultation and participation are key aspects of the river basin planning process. This will be achieved through the network of Area Advisory Groups and their associated Fora with meetings and Forum conferences held at key consultation stages.

SEPA is required, with input from the Advisory Groups and others, to produce a Plan of Action Report outlining the steps involved in producing the River Basin Management Plans for each of the two Scottish River Basin Districts (Scotland and Solway-Tweed). The reports will also set out how and when other interested parties will be involved. The plans will itself be subject to a 6 month public consultation following publication at the end of 2006.

Significant Water Management Issues Report

A Significant Water Management Issues Report (SWMI) will be produced for each of the Scottish River Basin Districts (Scotland and Solway-Tweed). The report will present the significant water issues in the districts and start to consider measures required to deal with the issues and achieve good status.

The report is being drafted by SEPA with input from the Advisory Groups and others. A draft report will be published in mid 2007. Once published there will be a 6 month public consultation which will feed into the draft River Basin Management Plan. Further details will follow.

River Basin Management Plan
|
A draft River Basin Management Plan (RBMP) will be published by December 2008 for each of the Scottish River Basin Districts (Scotland and Solway-Tweed) and will present the ecological objectives and programme of measures for water bodies in each district.
The draft reports will be informed by the SWMI Report, Advisory Groups and AAG forum events. For more details on the content of the RBMP click here.
