Key stages in River Basin Planning - what stage are we at?

The river basin planning process is made up of a number of stages. These come together in a continuous cycle of activity to produce the first and subsequent River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs). Public participation is important throughout the cycle and is sought at various key stages in the process.

Consult on overview of significant water management issues in the River Basin District (RBD)

Publish full draft RBMP for consultation |

Publish final first RBMP |

Programme of measures operational |

Review the first RBMP.
Consult on overview of significant water management issues for the second RBMP

Achieve objectives of first RBMP.
Publish second RBMP (thereafter every six years)
