Data and information on the types and quantities of waste generated and managed across Scotland are presented as interactive tools with tables and charts that can be filtered to suit.
The Scotland’s Environment Waste Discover Data toolpresents waste from all sources, i.e. from households, the construction and demolition sector, and from commerce and industry. The tool shows a break-down of waste types for 2011 – 2015 and the trend for Scottish waste landfilled since 2005. A commentary document that provides interpretation of trends and a quality report for the data is available (see table below). All data can be exported to Excel if required. Data for 2016 will be available in May 2018.

The tool shows a break-down of household waste generated and managed by waste type for 2011 – 2015 and the trends for household waste generated, recycled and managed since 2004. A quality report for the data is available (see table below). All data can be exported to Excel if required.
Waste landfilled in Scotland and Waste incinerated in Scotland are published as Official Statistics. You can find out more about this from the Official Statistics webpage, along with dates for the next publication. A further 2016 statistic, Scottish Waste Generated and Managed in 2016, will be available in May 2018. Statistics for waste landfilled in Scotland 2017 and waste incinerated in Scotland 2017 will be published on September 2018.
